The Saraya Building
The palace of the Turkish government was designed by Baruch Pepermeister from Rishon Lezion in 1890's. Inside the sumptuous structure were concentrated. institutions of the municipality and the government in Jaffa. The Saraya Building was the central structure of the "Saachnat e-Doula", the government quarter founded outside the city wall.
Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Saraya Building is being done in the framework the tourist project of the tourism, common to the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo/the Governance of Jaffa and the Ministry of Tourism/the Israel Government Tourist Corporation. In total about NIS 4 million will be invested in the renovation of the Saraya Building.
Renovation of the structure includes rebuilding the historic facade, including dealing with the architectural details, completion of the balconies and the windows, reconstruction of the pillars and the construction of a public garden, next to the building, which will be similar to the original Saraya Building.
The architects of the program are Eyal Ziv and Rali Parto, who specialize in conservation projects. Immediately after completion of the renovation, the Municipality will publish a tender for developers for its transformation to a cultural and art center.
