Tourism and business development
The Flea Market

The Flea Market was founded in the 19 th century and represents a history, hundreds of years old, in which Jaffa filled a central role, as a commercial port city and a center for pilgrims. The market constitutes a focus of attraction for visitors and tourists from all parts of the country and the world.

The program designates the area for residential and general use (commerce and hotels), while preserving the character of the existing urban fabric.

In the framework of the development program, street infrastructures are being developed, established facades are being renovated and an organizing and management system is being established by Achuzat Chof Ltd., which will ensure the continuation of the existing, unique social fabric, providing a solution for the market peddlers. For this purpose Amiad Square has been established.

Infrastructure work is being carried out in Olei Zion, Beit Eshel, Amiad and Rabbi Yochanan Streets and Ben Yair Lane to the cost of about NIS 20 millions.

The momentum of public development has begun to show its effects and many investors are interested in the programs, new initiatives and some of the stores in the area, where the renovations began, have been opened.
