In July 2003 UNESCO's World Heritage Committee declared "The White City" – the unique architectural texture of the heart of Tel as a World Heritage site. With this declaration the international community recognized the unique urban architectural qualities of Tel-Aviv-Yafo and proclaimed it attractive tourism venue on the world map.
One Hundred years have passed since the founding of Tel Aviv, and the small neighborhood, with its red roofs, which was built on hills of sand facing the Mediterranean Sea, has become a large city – the business and finance capital of Israel and an international center of culture and art. Today Tel Aviv-Yafo, the city in which the state was born, is an urban lighthouse for the state of Israel: modern, pluralistic and tolerant – a place in which any minority can feel at home, a city which is open to the world, which encourages science and research and fosters culture and art.

Tel Aviv-Yafo is the business and finance and commerce capital of the State of Israel – leading the way in the fields of banking, finances and was recently proclaimed one of the ten high-tech capitals of the world. It is also the home of convention center which hosts and array of international conferences and exhibits. The Israeli stock market venture capital funds, the Israeli Export Institute and international chambers of commerce.
The city is also the national center of art and culture. Home to three of Israel's largest museums, five leading theaters, the national opera house and the Philharmonic Orchestra and host to a huge variety of cultural and artistic events. More than two and a half million people each year enjoy the wide range of performances, festivals, exhibits and concerts that take place throughout the city.
In recent years millions of dollars have been devoted to the renewal a comprehensive facelift, including renovation and upgrading pf transportation and drainage infrastructure, rebuilding and adding educational and cultural institutions, and developing the city's green areas for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
The huge investment in municipal development is independent of the city's education and social services. Tel Aviv – Yafo prides itself on its educational system which adheres to the highest standards it the state and its comprehensive social services.
